
The official release of Windows Server 2008 was February 27th 2008 — exactly one year ago today!
You may argue that the actual birth of Server 2008 was sometime long ago when it was just a twinkle in a developer’s eye — perhaps even before they were calling it “Codename Longhorn”.
We could choose the point where Microsoft started development, a beta release, or even the release to manufacturing on February 4th.
But, we are talking about software here so for simplicity’s sake let’s just stick with today as the official birth of the server software we all know and love.
